Chris Liu is a seasoned tutor with over a decade of experience specializing in SAT/ACT preparation and college admissions. He graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a concentration in Finance. While at Duke, Chris supported both undergraduate and graduate students through his work at the Duke Career Center, where he provided career counseling and recruiting guidance. He also founded Fuqua2Duke, a mentoring initiative that pairs undergraduates with M.B.A. students from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business to promote early professional development.
Chris applies a mastery-based learning philosophy to standardized test prep. His teaching emphasizes conceptual clarity, critical thinking, and strategic problem-solving. Rather than relying solely on shortcuts or memorization, he helps students build a deep understanding of the underlying material. Through iterative assessments, personalized feedback, and structured practice, students not only improve their scores but also gain long-term academic confidence. Many of Chris’s students have achieved scores of 1500 or higher on the SAT and 34 or higher on the ACT, with acceptances to Ivy League and other top 10 universities.
Outside of tutoring, Chris works in corporate strategy within higher education, where he advises institutional leaders on the shifting ROI of degrees, certificates, and academic programs. This dual lens—as both educator and strategist—allows him to offer students a broader perspective on how test performance fits into the larger landscape of education and career planning.
