Teams of four to five students from the same school face off against other teams over Zoom. The online setting makes the bowl a little more accessible than other competitions since parents and students won’t have to travel to compete.
The format for the Biology Bowl is a quiz during which students compete against each other in round-robin rounds. Eventually, the top eight teams are chosen from the winners to create a final tournament. If your student makes it this far, they will compete against other top schools in the country for a chance to win the National Biology Bowl.
What Are the National Biology Bowl’s Registration Requirements?
Registering is a straightforward process, provided your student’s school participates in the competition. If their school is not currently involved, your student must assemble a team and secure a coach before entering the fray.
For schools with a Science Olympiad club, adding the national competition to their schedule may be an enticing option. Once the team is ready to compete, the team coach must complete the National Biology Bowl registration, along with a $125 registration fee.
