Brian Berger

Brian was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, where he still resides today.  Brian has a B.A. in International Studies along with a minor in French from Miami University and an M.Ed. with a focus on Social Studies and Global Education from the Ohio State University. 

At Miami, Brian studied his junior year abroad at the John E. Dolibois European Center in Luxembourg and finished up his education at the Universite de Bourgogne in Dijon, France.   It was through his studies abroad where learning came and alive and Brian discovered his passion for travel, the world, and its cultures.  

After graduation, Brian continued his love for travel and the outdoors and led adventure style travel trips for teenagers for five years, for a company based out of Golden, Colorado. His adventures led him to working in the Western United States, Australia, and New Zealand.  Brian realized his love with working with teenagers and returned to Ohio State to pursue a teaching license and Master’s Degree.  

Brian moved to North Carolina where he began his teaching career and then returned to his alma mater of Shaker Heights High School to teach Social Studies.  While teaching at Shaker, Brian traveled with students to Germany, Cambodia, Lao, Peru, and Morocco.  Brian serves on College Board’s AP U.S. Government Development Committee and is a question leader, overseeing the rating of an entire FRQ on the annual exam.  

Brian is also working as a Social Studies tutor and mentor at HelloCollege, and he is excited to partner with students and families in planning for college and preparing for their academic careers. In his free time, Brian enjoys coaching his boys in various sports, fishing, traveling, and walking his dog with his wife.  .
