Theo Yianas

A first generation Greek-American, Theofanis (Theo) was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, growing up alongside his three sisters, two parents, two grandmothers, and his dog. 

In 2011, Theo was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. After fighting for almost 2 years, he was declared cancer free. Since then, he has been an advocate for several non-profit organizations that raise money for the research and development of pediatric cancers medications. Since his remission date, he has raised just over $900,000.

Theo attended high school in Palatine, Illinois, and was involved in Public Forum Debate, where he was a 2-time Illinois State Champion. While there, he also played both varsity golf and baseball at his high school. A music lover, and he loves music Theo played the French horn and trumpet in high school and continues to play the piano with his band, 200 West, while trying to teach himself the guitar (still needs some work).

The summer after his junior year of high school, Theo started tutoring and has loved every second of it since. He believes in a personalized approach to his tutoring sessions, to ensure students feel comfortable and confident in the concepts they are learning. He looks for engaging ways to help his students and feels incredibly fulfilled when he can guide them into achieving their academic goals.

Theo currently attends the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, where he studies Data Science and Business. He is a member of the Scale and Coin Business Society and is very passionate about Finance, specifically Mergers & Acquisitions.
