Product Manager
Austin is a Technical Strategist and Management Consultant with a broad background in both industry consulting and solutions delivery. With 25 years experience in mission-driven technology and process solutions, combined with a passion for User Experience, Austin strives to provide Product Management expertise that makes the most of Counselor/Student relationships.
Austin’s most formative education experiences were found while attending a state-funded boarding school. With a grueling admissions process and less than 50% graduation rate, relationships with professors and students at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts were forged that remain a constant in his life today. He was a proud winner of the Intel Science and Engineering Fair, and his senior thesis led to multiple patents in the computer processing architecture that came to be knowns as hyper-threading.
Recruited by the Dean of College of Engineering at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Austin attended but struggled to remain challenged and motivated in a larger university environment. When he raised venture capital for a tech start-up at the age of 20, he stepped away from university life to focus on his new business ventures.
Austin’s passion for the next big idea led to a career in multi-industry technical consulting, product design/delivery, and consumer mobile applications; some of which garnered more than 10 million downloads.
Today, Austin focuses solely on products that make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, and he is particularly passionate about helping students find their way to the right university, and in a way that sets them up for long-term success. Additionally, he is an active board member with Alzheimer’s Arkansas – a non-profit that supports the families of those stricken with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
When he’s not wrangling new processes and technologies, Austin enjoys any activity that fosters a connection with nature. Having lived more than a decade in downtown Dallas, he and his family have returned to the Ozark Mountains to build a homestead, camp, hike, mountain bike, and generally enjoy the quiet beauty found outside of the hustle and bustle of dense urban life.
