Elena Rollins

Elena is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Florida, where she enjoys applying classroom concepts to real-world projects. Curious and creative by nature, she loves trying new things and exploring innovative approaches to problem-solving. Her experiences include contributing to rainwater harvesting and distribution systems in Nepal, exploring semiconductor manufacturing, and conducting research on recombinant protein production in a UF laboratory. These opportunities have deepened her appreciation for the practical applications of math and science, which she enjoys sharing with her students.

Elena has a strong passion for the ways math and science connect and is committed to helping students approach these subjects with confidence. She has enjoyed the challenge of standardized tests like the SAT since high school and is enthusiastic about making problem-solving engaging and approachable. She believes in breaking down difficult topics into clear, manageable steps and encouraging students to ask questions, build understanding, and gain confidence.

Originally from Austria, Elena is fluent in both German and English. This background has fostered a love for meeting new people and traveling, which she brings into her teaching with an open-minded and adaptable perspective. Having personally experienced the challenges of learning English while adjusting to a new school system, she understands the frustrations students may face and works to individualize lessons to meet each learner’s unique needs and goals.

Outside of academics, Elena enjoys reading, chatting with friends, and visiting her local farmers market on Saturday mornings. She is passionate about fostering curiosity, building supportive learning environments, and helping students achieve their goals.
