Essay Coach
Katy brings 28 years of teaching experience in traditional, IB, and global online classrooms. She draws on broad life experience and enjoys helping students find their authentic voices and showcase their individual strengths in essays.
Katy Moye has lived in eight U.S. states and currently resides in a coastal community in North Carolina. She also spent several years in Frankfurt, Germany, where she became fluent in German and developed a lasting appreciation for cultural immersion and global perspectives.
Katy brings 28 years of experience teaching students in grades 8–12 in traditional, IB, and global online classrooms. While most of her teaching has focused on Honors English and AP Language and Composition, she has also taught science and social studies, giving her a broad interdisciplinary perspective.
With a BS in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University and a Master’s in Education, Katy combines her background as a chemical engineer with a passion for written expression. She now applies this unique blend of analytical thinking and storytelling to her work as an Essay Coach at HelloCollege, helping students craft thoughtful, authentic college application essays.
