Cooper Ligda is a junior Mechanical Engineering student at Purdue University with a passion for automotive design. He is actively involved in Purdue's BAJA SAE Off-Road Racing and Grand Prix teams, where he enjoys applying engineering principles through hands-on design and collaboration. Outside of engineering, Cooper enjoys hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, painting, architecture, and visiting museums. Known for his curiosity and collaborative nature, he is always eager to learn, solve problems, and help others succeed.
Cooper Ligda is a junior at Purdue University pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering with aspirations of a career in automotive design. He is passionate about combining the technical aspects of engineering, mathematics, and physics with the creativity and artistic expression involved in designing innovative vehicles.
At Purdue, Cooper is an active member of two competitive racing teams: BAJA SAE Off-Road Racing and a Purdue Grand Prix team. Through BAJA, he collaborates with a large, multidisciplinary organization where teamwork and coordination are essential. His involvement with the smaller Grand Prix team provides opportunities for more hands-on engineering, design, and problem-solving experiences.
Outside the classroom, Cooper enjoys spending time outdoors through activities such as hiking, backpacking, and rock climbing. He also has a strong appreciation for the creative arts, particularly painting and architecture, and enjoys visiting museums whenever he has the opportunity. Driven by a natural curiosity, he is always looking to expand his knowledge and learn something new.
Above all, Cooper is committed to helping others. Whether it’s teaching, collaborating on a project, lending a hand, or simply being someone who listens, he strives to be the person people can rely on. He believes that the best learning and growth happen through supporting one another and working together.
