Academic Tutor, Test Prep Tutor
Darryl has over 17 years of experience as a teacher of wide-ranging math content, teaching students from the middle school level all the way up through college. He has a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Houston, in addition to a B.A. in Economics and M.S. in Accounting from the University of Virginia.
Darryl attended the University of Virginia where he studied Economics and Accounting with an eye toward working in business upon graduation. While there, he was an active member of the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society which served to broaden his views on education and spark an interest in public speaking and performance.
After graduating from UVa, he enrolled in law school at the University of Texas at Austin. Ever the music lover, he and some friends formed a band and played live shows throughout Austin for several years. The meager pay from those shows led Darryl to pursue opportunities as an SAT and ACT tutor, which ended up launching his career as an educator.
After several years of teaching and tutoring students for college entrance exams and various mathematical subjects, Darryl enrolled at the University of Houston in pursuit of a B.S. in Mathematics. This intensive study of math equipped him with the tools and desire to further aid students along their own math journeys while also broadening the range of topics through which he could be of service.
Presently, Darryl enjoys his time tutoring students, being an avid fantasy football player, playing and watching sports, and taking in live music. He continues his own self-study of math and boring his friends with his discoveries.
