Nik is a Korean adoptee, memoirist and poet based in Minneapolis. His creative nonfiction won the 2024 Annie Dillard Prize (Bellingham Review), and he was a finalist for the 2024 Iowa Review Award in Nonfiction. His poetry has appeared in The Plentitudes (Winter 2025) and the Blue Earth Review (Runner-Up, 2024 Minnesota BIPOC Emerging Writer Award), and he was a 2024 MAYDAY Micro-chapbook Contest finalist. Nik is an alum of the Tin House, Bread Loaf and Kenyon Review workshops, as well as the Loft Literary Center’s Year-Long Memoir Writing Project.
In previous lives he has worked as a corporate speechwriter, government communications director, writing center instructor, and high school English teacher in South Korea. He enjoys speedskating, walking his dog, and spending time with his family. Learn more at nikchanghoon.com.
