Tonishea Jackson

Dr. Tonishea M. Jackson is a proud Chicagoan, mother of a college student, lifelong learner, and dedicated advocate for students and families navigating the college journey.  Her commitment to helping students find their voice and make informed decisions began during her own college years. She served as the president of one of the student unions and the Pre-Law Association as well as secretary of Buddy Core, an organization that helped first-year students find their way and build a support system on campus. These leadership roles strengthened her appreciation for belonging, mentorship, and trusted guidance during pivotal moments in life, such as the transition to college.

Dr. Jackson brings more than two decades of higher education leadership to her role as a Professional Counselor with Hello College. Her career has taken her to nearly every state for student recruitment, during which she has visited hundreds of college campuses. This firsthand exposure has given her a broad perspective on campus culture, institutional identity, academic opportunities, and the many environments in which students can thrive.

Her professional background includes work across two-year and four-year institutions, public and private universities, and highly competitive academic environments. It also encompasses admissions at the undergraduate and graduate level as well as disciplines in law, medicine, engineering, education, social work, and professional learning. She currently serves as a senior executive at a private research university in Chicago, leading work related to institutional strategy, enrollment marketing, communications, and engagement.

 Dr. Jackson combines her knowledge of admissions, strategic enrollment management, recruitment, retention, and student success efforts with the personal perspective of a parent supporting a college student.  She understands both how institutions approach enrollment and the questions and emotions families may experience as students prepare for college and greater independence.

Dr. Jackson believes young people should remain active participants in the planning process. She is Candid, encouraging, and strategic; she helps each student identify their strengths, interests, aspirations, and personal story while guiding families toward decisions that support the academic goals, personal growth, and future direction.
