As a former student body president, National Honor Society member, and four-year athlete in baseball and basketball, Jake had already shown leadership, discipline, and commitment. With strong grades and active involvement in his community, his résumé looked impressive—but applying to top engineering schools like Texas A&M required more than accomplishments alone.
At first, Jake’s family thought they could manage the admissions process themselves. But after attending a HelloCollege workshop hosted by founder Kevin Krebs, they saw how expert guidance could give Jake the edge in such a competitive admissions landscape.
Jake began working with HelloCollege at the end of his sophomore year. His counselor, Allison, helped him focus his extracurriculars and deepen his engineering experience through clubs and shadowing opportunities. She quickly became more than a coach—she was a mentor and trusted guide.
With support from HelloCollege’s Director of Essay Services, Chris Bench, Jake turned his leadership and experiences into compelling personal stories that highlighted his strengths and passion for engineering.
Through strategy, mentorship, and hard work, Jake earned admission into Texas A&M’s highly competitive engineering program. Jake’s younger brother later enrolled with HelloCollege as well, and ultimately earned his own acceptance to Texas A&M Engineering.
